'The Lovers Rock Collection' unites some of the best releases of S & G Records, established in the early eighties by Milton 'Smitty' Smith. S & G may have been a small independent label, it was responsible for immortalizing some of the most important lovers rock voices on record: Sugar Minott (who thanks to his worldwide hit 'Good Thing Going' benefited from the popularity of the genre), and also lovers rock queen Carroll Thompson, were closely linked to the label (along with Bertie Grant Carroll produced for S & G under the name C & B Productions and launched the Safrice trio). For Winston Reedy the label even forced his breakthrough (check the beautiful 'Daughter Of Zion') as a solo artist.
