As promised Far Out Recordings continues with the reissuing of the Quartin label catalog, and after Jose Mauro's 'Obnoxious', they are now presenting Victor Assis Brasil 1970 album 'Toca Antonio Carlos Jobim'. More than four tracks, you won't encounter on this album, and, as the title suggests, these are all songs originally done by Antonio Carlos Jobim. But whereas Jobim's bossa nova versions only once surpassed a three minute length, Brasil created long jazzy reinterpretations with his saxophone playing a leading role; also the reason why this album will more than likely appeal more to amateurs of jazz than to world music lovers.
