The treasure troves of reggae music seem almost inexhaustible and 'Unification: From Channel One To King Tubby's With Willi Williams & Yabby You' is yet another never released gem from the nineteen seventies only true reggae freaks knew existed. More than the title of this album one really doesn't need to realize this is a first-rate album, because how can it go wrong when have Yabby You and Willi Williams join forces with top musicians like Sly & Robbie, Soul Syndicate, Jackie Mittoo, Bobby Ellis, Cedric 'Im' Brooks and Bobby Kalphat. Add to that, the fact all tracks on this album were recorded and mixed at legendary studios like Channel One and King Tubby's and you know you're dealing with pure reggae gold. Willi Williams also revisited a number of well-known riddims ('Free Dem' and 'Armagideon Man' are Williams' versions of Yabby You's 'Chant Down Babylon Kingdom' and 'King Pharoah's Plague', title track 'Unification' is a version over the Rockfort Rock riddim and for 'Any Day' showed Willi itself go on Boxing/Solomon riddim) for ' Unification: From Channel One To King Tubby's With Willi Williams & Yabby You'; a nice perk, but even without them/those this album would have stood its ground. Instant roots classic!
