Winston McAnuff (school fellow of Earl Sixteen and author of the Dennis Brown hit 'Malcolm X') has been a regular fixture in the French roots reggae scene for some years now and as the inspiration behind the Makasound label and through musical projects with Camile Bazbaz and R.Wan (lead singer of the rap-musette ensemble Java) his musical career has become undeniably linked with France. With 'Nostradamus' McAnuff returns to his roots, although thanks to the presence of the accordion, the French influence hasn't completely subsided. To hear a roots tune about Nostradamus, a character that seems to fit in amazingly well with Rasta philosophy, is at the very least surprising. Solid middle of the road roots album.
