Most reggae lovers will know Winston Reedy as the voice behind lovers rock classics like 'Daughter Of Zion' or 'Dim The Light', but before he embarked on a solo career Reedy was the voice of UK roots band The Cimarons. It were those same Cimarons who were a big inspiration for French reggae band Donkey Jaw Bone. Saxophonist/flutist Eric 'Rico' Gaultier (Faya Dub) introduced the members of Donkey Jaw Bone to Reedy in 2009 and that meeting eventually resulted in 'Make A Change', an album for which Winston returned to his roots with The Cimarons, giving it a vintage roots vibe. This is the kind of reggae yours truly likes to wake up to: spiritual, melodic (with Rico's flute in an important supporting role) and painfully slow. As far as we're concerned ex-Makasounders Nicolas Maslowski and Romain Germa from Chapter Two Records deserve a statue somewhere.
