With 'Born Inna Babylon' YT continues where he left off with his debut album 'Straight Outta Britain'. The songs on 'Born Inna Babylon' in which YT takes the role of chronicler of English city life (title track 'Born Inna Babylon', 'Bills', about the problems we all experience trying to get our bills paid in these times of crisis, or 'Running Wild', an indictment against the violence of youth gangs in the UK) seem to fit him like a glove. Where the riddims on this album are concerned, among other things, YT took inspiration from the digital eighties: for 'Born Inna Babylon' he used the riddim of Linval Thompson's 'Starlight' (also 'All Night Long') and both 'Champion Sound' and 'Real Music' are versions over the Deborahe Glasgow and Shabba Ranks smash 'Champion Lover'. Versions of well-known classics like John Holt's 'Police In Helicopter' ('Heat Seeking Camera') and Dennis Brown's ‘Drifter' (renamed 'Hustler') might not be super original, but hit the spot none the less. YT manages to maintain the same level for the duration of the entire album and that catapults this release straight to the top ten for 2009!
