Zebras Are Timeless is a five-piece mestizo band from Deinze, with '99' presenting their debut album. The hearty ska of opener 'Fly High' sets the tone for the rest of the album; Zebras Are Timeless are a party outfit and you'll know it! For title track '99' the Zebras switch to French and it's this language choice making the song resemble the repertoire of Spook And The Guay and other similar French mestizo-projects. Quite different is closing track 'Round & Round', with a vibe somewhere between Joe Jackson and The Nits. For 'Smiling' the band goes rockabilly and the New Orleans rhythm and blues of 'The Right Place' immediately reminded yours truly of Moon Invaders. Solid and varied debut effort and recommended listening for those who enjoy a good party.
