'Freedom Time' is the album debut of Israeli roots reggae formation Zvuloon Dub System, founded by brothers Ilan (guitar) and Asaf Smilan (drums and percussion) and named after Zebulon, one of the twelve tribes of Israel (Zebulon was the sixth son of Jacob and Leah). In their home country the band already built themselves a reputation with 'Freedom Time' and they're now hoping for some international recognition. From a musical point of view you could situate Zvuloon Dub System somewhere between American groups like 10 Ft. Ganja Plant and Easy Star All-Stars, but the slight accent of Gil Yalo, the Ethiopian lead vocalist of the band, immediately makes clear this is not an American band. In conclusion, we'd like to add Zvuloon Dub System comes highly recommended by reggae archivist par excellence Roger Steffens.
