It took quite some time for Queen Ifrica's debut album to manifest, but isn't there a wonderful English expression that goes: "Absence makes the heart grow fonder."? 'Fyah Muma' should originally have been released in 2003, were it not that Next Music, the French label manager and producer Tony Rebel was working with had to close shop and subsequently Queen Ifrica had to wait until Rebel had put his own Flames label on the rails. 'Fyah Muma' was definitely worth the wait though; Queen Ifrica, daughter of ska-legend Derrick Morgan, proves her versatility, toasting and rapping on one song and melodiously singing (she started her career imitating Garnet Silk) on the next.
