Just as for 'Sons Of Negus Churchical Host - A Psalm Of Praises To The Most High 1967-1972' Dub Store Records collected a series of rare singles that appeared on Ras Michael's Zion Disc label, for 'Solomonic Singles 1: Tread Along 1969-1976' and 'Solomonic Singles 2: Rise & Shine 1977-1986' they explored the archives of Bunny Wailer's Solomonic label. It provided enough material to fill two discs. On 'Solomonic Singles 1' above all rather obscure older tunes like opener 'Tread Along', in 1969 the last single that appeared on The Wailers' Wail N Soul M label, and a bit further in the track list, 'Searching For Love', Bunny's first single on his own Solomonic label. Because of well-known Bunny Wailer-tunes like 'Love Fire', 'Trouble Is On The Road Again' or 'Rule Dance Hall', 'Solomonic Singles 2' sounds a bit like a 'Best Of' compilation, but here also, enough rarities in the form of hard to find dubs ('Solomonic Dub', 'Rule Dance Hall Version') or alternative versions ('Anti-Apartheid', with Peter Tosh on melodica and actually an instrumental version of 'Amagideon'). Finally, we would also like to recommend the extensive liner notes by Harry Hawks, a biography of Bunny Wailer that will easily keep you occupied for an hour or so. Excellent piece of archive work!
