Bristol Archive Records label is gradually building a reputation publishing never released material. Just a few weeks ago we were treated to Jashwha Moses' 'Joshua To Jashwha: 30 Years In The Wilderness' and this time the label surprises us with Dan Ratchet's 'Jah Poor People'. The songs on this album all date from 1986, but despite all hope and good faith 'Jah Poor People' never made it into the stores. Wrongly so, because Ratchet has an excellent voice smoothly switching between lovers rock and roots. In true old school style most tracks on 'Jah Poor People' are followed by a dub version. The fact Bristol Archive Records manages to keep on finding these gems solely in and around Bristol raises the question as to how much never released material is still gathering dust elsewhere!
