London based Family Atlantica, the band around musical couple Jack Yglesias and Luzmira Zerpa, returns with a follow-up to their 2013 self-titled debut. Like last time a number of illustrious guests lend a hand: for 'Efik' that's Nigerian afrobeat saxophonist Orlando Julius, and in title track 'Cosmic Unity' you'll hear the alto-sax of The Sun Ra Arkestra band leader Marshall Allen. 'Cosmic Unity' may sound just a tad more accessible than its predecessor, but like on 'Family Atlantica' the percussion element is once again given a leading role and the album once again offers that mix of genres and rhythms we already encountered on their previous long player. Recommended tracks: the Ethio-jazz of 'Enjera', the Afro-Colombian vibes of 'Puerta' and the calypso of 'Neti Neti'.
