Variety is the spice of life! This Flemish proverb should also have a German counterpart, because variation is what the new album by Gentleman is all about and this not only on a musical level (Gentleman jumps back and forth between r&b, hip-hop, pop, reggae and dancehall) but also in the packaging of 'Diversity' (the album is available in a single or double version and for real fans there's even a Limited Collectors Box). In terms of content, as usual Gentleman criticizes the abuses characterizing today's society. Those who've already seen the accompanying video clip to 'It No Pretty' will know what yours truly is going on about. The best track on the album is without the slightest doubt 'Good Old Days', a duet with Sugar Minott over Johnny Osbourne's Water Pumping riddim. Those who (perhaps rightfully so) criticized Gentleman's previous album 'Another Intensity' for being too soft, will rejoice again with 'Diversity'. Absolute world class!
