Just like for predecessor 'Frequency', Jahcoustix once again joined forces with the team of Irievibrations Records for 'Seriously Positive'. That doesn't mean both albums don't sound quite different though. On 'Frequency' Jahcoustix still for opted for a new roots approach, but for 'Seriously Positive' it was back to the roots, or as he summarizes it himself: "With too much programming and drum editing the music loses what it's actually all about: life and a certain degree of roughness that creates a raw groove and a natural and edgy feeling.". Jahcoustix opens with 'Attack And Release', a catchy old-school ska-tune, but for songs like 'Change Of Scenery' or 'Clear' he clearly looked at vocal trios like Mighty Diamonds of The Viceroys. Jahcoustix also invited some guests: for 'A Blink Of An Eye' that's German singer Uwe Banton, but we were more taken with 'What Makes Someone Leave', in which Akae Beka aka Vaughn Benjamin makes an appearance; making it also one of the favorites on the album, with other recommendations being 'Soul Steady' and 'Too Brutal'. 'Seriously Positive' ends in style with three excellent dubs by Irievibrations-producer Syrix.
