Los Miticos Del Ritmo (that name, that album cover!) is the brainchild of Will 'Quantic' Holland, known from his Quantic Soul Orchestra. For Los Miticos Del Ritmo, Holland wanted to return to the vintage cumbia sound of the 1960s and the album had to sound like a forgotten classic. Holland got a seven-piece studio band together and recorded this self-titled album using only analog equipment. Fun fact: in recent years Will studied the accordion with well-known Colombian accordionists like Anibal Velasquez and Papi Brandao and all accordion parts on the album are by his hand. 'Los Miticos Del Ritmo' may sound like an old cumbia record, there are a number of anachronisms in the track list: 'Otro Muerde El Palvo' and 'No Pares Hasta Tener Lo Suficiente' are cumbia-adaptations of hits by Queen and Michael Jackson ('Another One Bites The Dust' and 'Can't Stop Till You Get Enough') and 'Satta Massa Cumbia' is a successful cumbia version of reggae anthem 'Satta Massagana' (The Abyssinians). Instant classic!
