What immediately makes 'United States Of Africa' stand out is the fact there is not a single picture of the Messenger to be found on the entire package, but that piece of trivia, of course, does not detract from the musical qualities of this album. For 'United States Of Africa' Luciano collaborated with Frenchie and Sly & Robbie. The Messenger releases a new album almost annually, but where his previous releases occasionally suffered from mellowness, for 'United States Of Africa' he seems to have switched gears and well-known riddims like I Know My Herbs ('Invasion'), a pimped version of Creation Rebel ('Hosanna') and of course 'A No Like We No Like Them', Luciano's version on the World Jam riddim (known from 'Welcome To Jamrock') add to the attraction of the album. 'Another Terrorist Attack', a duet with Fantan Mojah over Bob Marley's Zion Train riddim is another solid tune and title track 'United States Of Africa' was written by Duane Stephenson. The Messenger's still got it!
