Richy Pitch debuted in the mid-1990s, deejaying at London hip-hop club Scratch. In 2006, he was given the chance to work on a project in Ghana and that eventually resulted in this album. For 'Ye Fre Mi Richy Pitch' ("they call me Richy Pitch" in Twi, one of three literary dialects of the Akan language of southern Ghana, and the prestige dialect of that language) Richy collaborated with the cream of the Ghanaian hiplife scene (Samini, Reggie Rockstone aka the godfather of hiplife...) and the tagline on the cover of the album: "A musical journey to Ghana, through the ears of a producer from London", perfectly sums up what this album is all about: highlife, hiplife and afrobeat meet the London club scene.
