The FIFA World Cup circus is now running at full speed, so we might as well linger in Brazil a bit longer to. Sergio Mendes (for those who can't immediately place him, the man will forever and a day be linked to his world hit 'Mais Que Nada') presents his new long player 'Magic', an album that could just as well have been titled 'Sergio Mendes And Friends', as Sergio invited at least one guest for each song in the track list. In addition to a number of other Brazilian music legends (Carlinhos Brown, Milton Nascimiento) also a couple of new faces from the Brazilian music scene (Seu Jorge, Maria Gadu, Ana Carolina) appear on the album. With Will.I.Am and John Legend Mendes already collaborated for his 2011 'Timeless' album and, of course, 'One Nation', Sergio's contribution for the FIFA World Cup could not be missing from the track list. 'Magic' swings back and forth between pop, samba, bossa nova, jazz and half a dozen other genres, making it sound and sounds like a timeless album spanning several decades.
