The Marleykes recently decided to take things up a notch and get a bit more serious. The result is a first demo (recorded at Sen-C P's Ebony Studio) and a name change: The Marleykes are dead, long live Tzen Marley'kes! The band has also abandoned sticking exclusively to the "translation" of the oeuvre of Bob Marley as 'Demo' next to 'Kom Op, Sta Recht' ('Get Up Stand Up'), 'Stopt Dien Trein' ('Stop That Train') and 'Ambras En Het Gezeik' ('War') also contains songs by Dawn Penn ('Nee, Nee, Nee' aka 'You Don't Love Me (No No No)') and Max Romeo ('D'n Duvel' aka 'I Chase The Devil'). 'Gust, Beer, Aap' is perhaps the furthest removed from the original lyrics (Toots & The Maytals' 'Monkey Man'), but the ode to Gust, a gorilla from the Antwerp Zoo, is without any doubt the biggest smash on 'Demo'!
