In 2006 Dušan Milić already presented 'Guča' (aka 'Gucha - Distant Trumpet') a romantic comedy with Marko Markovic in the lead role and featuring the Guča Trumpet Festival, but with 'Brasslands' there is now finally a full-fledged documentary about the Serbian brass band festival. The movie itself, focusing on the anniversary edition of the festival which was organized for the 50th time in 2010, we didn't get a chance to see yet, but we can give you our opinion on the accompanying soundtrack. The liner notes of the album give a detailed description of Serbian brass band culture and the Guča Trumpet Festival is also briefly presented. The album itself focuses on three Serbian (Dejan Avdić Orchestra, Demiran Ćerimović Orchestra and Dejan Petrović Orchestra) and four American bands (Raya Brass Band, Slavic Soul Party, Veveritse Brass Band and Zlatne Uste) featured in the documentary. The recipe of their music, we hopefully don't need to digress on anymore. Vrijeme je da stranka ("party time")!
