If 1981's 'Linval presents Space Invaders' was still a tribute to Tomohiro Nishikado's 'Space Invaders', then with 1982's 'Linval presents Encounters Pac-Man' Linval Thompson put the spotlight on Toru Iwanati's iconic computer game from 1980. That being said, thanks to the excellent illustrations by Tony McDermott this album is of course also an ode to the American superhero comics. As was the case with the reissue of 'Linval presents Space Invaders', for 'Linval presents Encounters Pac-Man' Greensleeves also went in search for the corresponding vocal cuts to the riddims included on the original dub album (Sensee Party, Things Couldn't Be The Same, Are You Ready, Can't Stop Us Now, Do You Remember, Carpenter Rebuild, Time Is Important and Holding On To My Girlfriend); this time the featured artists being: The Meditations ('Carpenter Rebuild' , 'Talk Of The Town'), Eek-A-Mouse ('Sensee Party', 'Do You Remember'), Toyan ('Strictly Dread', 'How Yuh Look Gal Pon De Street'), Dennis Brown ('My Love'), The Viceroys ('Can't Stop Us Now', 'Time Is Important'), Nicodemus ('Wife And Sweetheart') and, of course, Linval himself ('Things Couldn't Be The Same', 'Are You Ready', 'Holding On To My Girlfriend'). All tracks for 'Linval presents Encounters Pac-Man' were recorded at Channel One and mixed by Scientist at that same studio and King Tubby's.
