Following last year's compilation 'The Midlands Roots Explosion' and as a successor to the popular two part 'The Bristol Reggae Explosion', Bristol Archive Records now presents 'The Bristol Roots Explosion'. With this compilation the label seeks to paint a picture of the roots scene in Bristol and the surrounding area from the mid-1970s until the end of the 1980s. In the track list meanwhile familiar faces like Jashwha Moses, Bunny Marrett, Rhythmites and Talisman, but also contributions from more obscure artists and bands like deejay Big Roy (opener 'Ethiopia Revelation'), 3D Production ('Riot') or our personal favorite Zion Band ('Twelve Tribes'). The cover photo is a tribute to Posy Curious who passed away last year, showing him posing in front of what remains of Bristol's former Bamboo Club. Mike Darby continues to deliver excellent compilations.
