In Europe Zema might still be relatively unknown, this singer and multi-instrumentalist from Detroit has already an extensive musical resume. It all started more than thirty years ago when she met Bob Marley at the clinic where her mother was treated for cancer. Zema called it a "divine intervention" and the roots reggae virus has had her in its grips ever since. 'Jubilee' is Zema's sixth album and before that she worked with The Gladiators (who she also accompanied on their latest European tour). The album, recorded in the Harry J and Tuff Gong studios in Jamaica, is a very solid classic roots album (the Rastafarians among you can even take it a step further as most of the songs on 'Jubilee' are Bible references, nicely explained in the accompanying liner notes). Ten tracks (+ 4 dubs) of spiritual upliftment!
