Yours truly has a hard time understanding why Anthony Cruz, an artist we rate among the top of the Jamaican music business, can count on such little support in Europe, although the fact in recent years he's been releasing his albums on his own label will undoubtedly have something to do with that. 'Inna Di Dance' also appears on that Shan Shan Music label, is once again a feast for the ears and is definitely an album offering something to everyone's taste, as Cruz delivers new roots and lovers rock with the same ease. For the eponymous title track Anthony used the Banjo riddim produced by Stone Love's Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell, but the album also contains as a number of refreshed classic riddims ('Running Back over Ken Boothe's 'Without Love', 'Gold' over John Holt's 'Police In Helicopter' and 'Weekend' also uses a vintage classic, but one we couldn't exactly put our finger on) and even two successful covers ('Suspicion', originally done by Elvis Presley, and 'Don't Wanna Close My Eyes', a lovers rock version of Aerosmith's 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing', a tune that was used in the soundtrack of 'Armageddon'). Guests like Luciano and Macka Diamond are a nice perk, but given Anthony's talent actually nothing more than a superfluous luxury. Top tracks: 'Don't Test We' and 'One Step A Dem'.
