As part of Greensleeves' 40th anniversary celebrations, we'd promised you a series of reissues, and after Sylford Walker's 'Lamb's Bread' last month, it's now 'King David's Melody', a 1983 masterpiece by melodica King Augustus Pablo featuring, among others, classics like 'Mr. Bassie', 'Rockers Mood' and of course title track 'King David's Melody', that gets a revamp. The entirely instrumental album was originally released on Pablo's own Alligator Records label, but in 1984 was reissued by Greensleeves, in 1992 followed by a first release on CD. For this reissue the original track list was almost doubled, as it's extended with 9 additional tracks (including five dub versions appearing on CD for the very first time), and Noel Hawks provided extensive liner notes that make an interesting read. High time to rediscover this album's mystical instrumental vibes!
