At the time of writing the remaining members of Cuba's most illustrious orchestra have started their Adios Tour and with 'Lost And Found', a hotchpotch of songs that were left on the shelf (complemented by a number of live tracks that didn't make the track list of the 'Buena Vista Social Club Live At Carnegie Hall' album), the World Circuit label also bids this musical legend farewell. The key question with this kind of randomly compiled albums of course always remains wither the recovered material is worthwhile enough to merit a release. Rest assured though, as the songs on 'Lost And Found' are of the same standard as the tracks on the original ' Buena Vista Social Club "album. Our favorites from the track list are 'Black Chicken 37', a wonderful musical duel between Orlando 'Cachaito' Lopez' double bass and Miguel 'Angá' Diaz' percussion, and 'Lagrimas Negras', here in a version by Omara Portuondo, but originally a song by Cuban composer Miguel Matamoros made famous worldwide by that other Cuban "old-pensioners-orchestra" Vieja Trova Santiaguera. The outro, which only features a scatting Ruben Gonzalez, is a bit superfluous, but apart from that minor detail, we simply would have loved to keep this golden bunch of musicians around for years to come. Alas, all good songs come to an end. ¡Hasta siempre compañeros!
