With the release of the 12 inch 'Wolf' in 2014, Capital Letters already provided us with a taste of their upcoming album 'Wolverhampton'. The title and cover photo are an obvious statement: this album is conceived as a tribute to the city in the West Midlands Capital Letters call home (a fact highlighted even more in title track 'Wolverhampton', and 'Wolf', also featured on 'Wolverhampton', was actually also already a hint in the same direction, as it is the nickname for the inhabitants of the city). Even though the majority of the tracks on 'Wolverhampton' have a clear roots vibe (check out the excellent opener 'Jah Music' and the aforementioned 'Wolf'), Capital Letters made an exception for 'Movie Star', a decent lovers tune over the riddim of the lovers rock classic 'Am I The Same Girl' (Winsome). Just the once the band opts for a classic riddim, as for 'Opportunity ' they recycled the melody line to Bob Marley's 'Hypocrites'. In 2011 the band already put out a digital album ('Planet Earth', VP Records) with a very similar looking track list, so 'Wolverhampton' certainly doesn't symbolize a comeback in the literal sense, but with this release Capital Letters have put itself firmly on the European reggae map again.
