'Call My Name', the latest release on the Real World label is yet another East meets West project with American blues blending with its African counterpart (also see Ry Cooder and Ali Farka Toure or, more recently, Justin Adams and Juldeh Camara). On 'Call My Name' it's Skip McDonald (Little Axe) and the emerging Mauritanian talent Daby Toure who shared a studio. The result (no full album by the way, but a 6 track EP) is perhaps not surprising or innovative, but this is still the African desert blues we love and like.
