The past few years Jesse King aka Dubmatix has made quite a name for himself in the reggae scene and that is reflected in the number of living reggae legends - Horace Andy, Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace, Cornell Campbell, U Roy, Earl Zero, Prince Jazzbo - he managed to entice to contribute to this new opus (although some of these contributions are quite minimal). That being said, it are the lesser gods that really earn their stripes on 'Rebel Massive'. Opener 'Show Down' is a bold roots track with a sample of the Stalag 17 riddim, propelled by UK deejay Tenor Fly. 'Can't Put Us Down' and 'Free Up' with the French Tenja and Manchez on vocals, are also decent roots tunes, but the absolute smash on 'Rebel Massive' is the heavy dubstep track 'Liberation' featuring German Longfingah. Impressive album!
