With their mix of salsa, merengue, tango, hip-hop and reggae, the seven-piece French band Duende is reminiscent of Sergent Garcia (the salsa muffin of opener 'No Me Callare'), Argentine band Los Fabulossos Cadillacs ('Lapices The Colores') or the Mexicans of Maldita Vecindad ('Fuego'). Also Mexican is the artwork by Mostasho inspired by the decorations you see popping up in Mexico everywhere around November 1st and 2nd, the day of the dead, or Dia de Muertos. Where Duende strays somewhat from the aforementioned bands, is in the fact they also incorporate influences from flamenco, the genre to which the band owes its name (the term "duende" is hard to translate, but is defined as the moment when a flamenco dancer is fully caught up in the emotion of the music), into their music ('La Nana'). Excellent mestizo-party!
