This album debut by Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha reached us From the Far North (read: Finnish Lapland). The five-piece ensemble successfully mixes Finnish tango with influences from Russia and the Balkans and yours truly occasionally was reminded of La Minor's 2009 release 'Oboroty': the atmosphere of a smoky bar, with a lot of partying going on and the occasional Koskenkorva (a vodka spirit Finland is known for) shot being done when a more melancholic song is being played.
