Tiken Jah Fakoly is a busybody; after the release of a biography and the live CD/DVD 'Live À Paris' last year, he is now producing work in his H. Camara studio. After Beta Simon it is now Burkinabé Jah Verity's turn. Verity, born Bernard Etimbe Koffi, grew up in a mixed Beninese-Burkinabé family from Ouagadougou that migrated to Ivory Coast, making him a great example of West African integration. On 'Président Boulanger' Verity holds the middle between Alpha Blondy and Tiken Jah and if you know that the album was also recorded with Tiken's musicians and Verity started his career as an imitator of Alpha Blondy, then that comes as no surprise. Lyrically 'Président Boulanger' could be stronger in places, but this is still a more than decent African production.
