This 6 track (4 vocal tracks and 2 dubs) 'Lioness' EP is the fruit of a collaboration between the San Diego-born singer-songwriter Janelle Phillips and Roots Musician Records producer E.N. Young. On 'Grey Smoke', an ode to the green herb, E.N. Young accompanies Janelle behind the microphone of course bringing his trusted melodica with him. For 'Lifted' and 'Mista Dreadlock' Phillips invited Trevor Hall, a fellow singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, and Wakane, a Japanese singer who via Hawaii ended up in San Francisco. However, we were most taken with title track 'Lioness', a song sounding like a feminist reggae anthem.
