Even though they were responsible for most of the songs on 'Around Félicité', this actually isn't a new album by Congolese band Kasai Allstars, but rather the soundtrack to 'Felicité', a film by Senegalese director Alain Gomis, who drew on the universe of Kasai Allstars for inspiration. The main character in the film, Muambuyi, played by Vero Tshanda, is a proud free-spirited woman and singer with Kasai Allstars, who throughout the film tries to keep her son safe from the grip of the streets of Kinshasa. In addition to the tracks by Kasai Allstars, 'Around Félicité' also contains three compositions by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, performed by the Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste; songs that reminded yours truly somewhat of the soundtrack Ennio Morricone composed at for Roland Joffé's 'The Mission'. Icing on the cake is a second disc, 'Félicité Remixes' containing 10 remixes by, among others, Clap! Clap!, Daedalus, Africaine 808 and RAMZi.
