You only have to take a look at the cover of 'Via Mandarina' to know this is a mestizo album. 'Via Mandarina' is already La Pegatina's second album and offers mainly rumba Catalana. The songs of La Pegatina (loosely translated "the sticker"), a seven piece band from Catalonia, are mainly in Catalan, which gives their music some extra authenticity. Musically it's Romain Renard's accordion that gives 'Via Mandarina' some extra color. If you are familiar with the work of the Argentine Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, you will surely recognize their sound in 'Sun Bay', but a song like 'Alosque' leans more towards the flamenco vibe of Ojos De Brujo.

'Huellas' by Zulu 9.30 was actually already released in 2008, but only now ended up on our test bench. Stylistically Zulu 9.30 is very reminiscent of Sergent Garcia, but with trips towards funk ('Mante Y Carretera'), a light jazzy touch ('Pagame') and influences from Jamaican music ('Era', 'Huellas') the musical mix on 'Huellas' is perhaps a bit more complex. Nice guest appearance by Amparo Sanchez (Amparanoia) on 'Tu Te Vas'.
