Barely six months after the release of 'Sound System Scratch' the Pressure Sounds label is already releasing a successor. Yours truly, can't say he was waiting with impatience for this release, but real Perry-fans will undoubtedly appreciate another disc full of Black Ark rarities. Just as with the previous release, this compilation is also filled with dubplates, outtakes and rarities, some sounding better than others. In the track list a bunch of artists that were complete unknowns to yours truly (Aleas Jube or Jack Lord anyone?) and the reason for that is pretty simple: at the height of the popularity of the Black Ark groups of aspiring wannabe-artists hung around at the studio daily, hoping for a breakthrough. Scratch was messing around in his studio almost round-the-clock, suddenly got raided with an idea and then quickly invited someone in to sing the vocals, resulting in a lot of one-hit wonders. In summary: certainly not essential, but a compilation which has its fascinating moments.
