With the eponymous 4 track 'Sweet & Tuff' EP, Lëk Sèn already gave us a taste of this album a few months ago. In addition to the four songs from the EP, the album contains another 8 brand new tracks. Dubby opener 'Forward', with an original African sounding outro on mbira, is one of the strongest songs from the track list. 'Rasta Time', the excellent duet with Ilements, was also included on the EP, but for the album Lëk Sèn also invited Congo-in-charge Cedric Myton and the resulting 'Pirates' is one highlights on Sweet & Tuff '. Even though he still sings and raps in Wolof here and there ('Doy Na Waar', 'Alap Rebel', 'Free'), Lëk Sèn gradually seems to focus more on English and Patois. The Senegalese singjay once again delivers a more than decent effort, an album that is an absolute must for amateurs of African reggae. 'Sweet & Tuff ' indeed!
