For 'Scrolls Of The Levite', Mark Wonder joined forces with American producers Sikandar Syed and Fernando Cardoso, the duo behind the Nowtime Sound label from San Francisco. If there's one song really standing out in the track list, it has to be the great 'Hail Jah', a song over an update of Prince Alla's 'Bucket Bottom' of which 'Scrolls Of The Levite' also contains a great dub version. For 'Long Road' another classic was revamped; this time Ras Michael & The Sons Of Negus' 'None A Jah Jah Children', and for 'Break Free' Sikandar and Nando used Johnny Osbourne's 'Jah Promise'. But the rest of the tracks on 'Scrolls Of The Levite' are no less convincing; from upbeat opener 'Must Be A Way' over ganja tune 'Rude Boys In Town' to slow closing track 'Revolution', every song on this album seems to have its merits. Another fine release by a heavily undervalued Jamaican artist. Respect due!
