For 'Tout Droit', Marockin' Brass, the gnawa-jazz project around saxophonist Luc Mishalle, joined forces with British trumpeter Byron Wallen. All tracks for 'Tout Droit' were recorded live at Rataplan in Antwerp, Handelsbeurs in Ghent and De Werf in Bruges and it is, of course, live on stage that the improvisations of this formation really come into their own. On 'Tout Droit' we heard a hint of funk, a dash of reggae and a lot of gnawa influences, but mainly jazz and that's the main reason the music of Marockin' Brass will probably appeal more to fans of the latter genre than to amateurs of world music.
