Campine band MoodCollector is preparing itself and us for a sultry summer with the release of this new 4 track EP. 'Weird Creatures' opens with 'Andydull', the story of a boring man disguised as cumbia-reggae, meant as a remedy against the daily grind of existence and a call to enjoy life, dancing and partying away. With title track 'Weird Creatures', in which Pieter Mercelis' ripping rock guitar sounds particularly striking, MoodCollector warns us about the strange creatures ruling today's world, taking themselves far too seriously. Waking up next to the love of your life, can a day start any better? In the infectious ska-tune 'The Day Can't Start Better' MoodCollector decidedly claims the contrary. Perhaps most surprising is closing track 'Sweet Power Lady', featuring South African influences and meant as an ode by MoodCollector vocalist Kris De Wilde to 'Mama Africa' Miriam Makeba. Have a skanking summer!
