Just about all members of Morgan Heritage have started working on solo projects over the past year, so it will probably still be a while before we're treated to a new Morgan Heritage album. The ideal time for a career overview VP Records must have thought. 'The Journey Thus Far' counts 20 tracks and it is only when one goes through the track list that it becomes clear how many hit tunes the Morgans have signed off on over the last decade (just think of smashes like 'Liberation', 'Reggae Bring Back Love' or the indestructible anthem 'Don't Haffi Dread'). Fans who already own all their albums will have little use for this compilation (although it also contains two new tracks, 'Here To Stay' and 'Guards Up' on the Blackboard riddim), but apart from that this hit collection leaves little to be desired. The added bonus-DVD is a slight disappointment: the combination of one (too) short documentary about the Morgan clan's visit to the Gambia and Senegal and a hodgepodge of old clips and concert excerpts, feels fragmented and amateurish.
