Trinidadian reggae artist Mosiah (born Akeil Martin) first received international attention with 'Reggae Sweet', released earlier this year and a tribute to reggae greats like Gregory Isaacs, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley and Dennis Brown, but also to the power of the genre itself. The singer now follows that single with this 6 track debut EP. As the son of a Rastafarian father, Akeil was surrounded by Rastafarianism ever since he was still a toddler, and in his teens his friends soon started calling him Mosiah (a nod to Marcus Mosiah Garvey). Mosiah had family in Europe, and ended up in Germany, where he soon became the front man of local reggae band Yard Vibez Crew. These days he's focusing on a solo career. In the track list of 'Chant Tafari', of course, the aforementioned 'Reggae Sweet', but also the catchy up-tempo 'No Stop I', the excellent ganja-tune 'Herbalist', a combination with Elder Son (another Trinidadian living in Germany, who, with this song, is making his professional recording debut), 'Love Inna Me Heart' and 'Jah Never Fail' (our personal favorite from the track list), both musical expressions of Mosiah's Rasta convictions, and finally the duet with Ghanaian singer Adjoa, 'Caramel', a feather-light lovers tune but not really to our taste.
