We frankly thought that Orchestra Baobab's story had run to an end, but just as was the case with their Beninese colleagues from Le Tout Puissant Orchestre Poly-Rythmo, the Senegalese band was mourning the death of one of its key members, and apart from that a number of other band members decided to quit (guitarists Latfi Ben Jelloun and Barthélemy Attisso both left the band). Ever since the sudden death of Laye Mboup in 1974, together with Balla Sidibe, Rudy Gomis and Thione Seck, Ndiouga Dieng counted as one of the voices of Orchestra Baobab, and it is therefore only logical that the remaining members dedicated this new album to his memory. Otherwise it's business as usual and on 'Tribute To Ndiouga Dieng' Orchestra Baobab continue where they left off with 2007's (!) 'Made In Dakar'. Ndiouga Deng has joined the big orchestra in the sky, where he's undoubtedly in good company, and down here we'll build a steaming Senegalese party in his honor!
