Orléans (France) based Rod Anton presents his debut EP 'Angel'. Like Pura Vida, Anton also travelled to Jamaica to collaborate with The Congos (Cedric Myton sings and Ashanti Roy plays percussion on the eponymous title track of the EP), but that's where the comparisons end. The least that you can say is that Anton steers his own course and together with his backing band The Ligerians and wingman Babs he has turned out a very varied EP. When tracks like 'Dreamin' or 'Rudie' sound wonderfully rootsy, then for the remix of 'Angel' Anton chose for a trip hop approach and our favorite tune on the EP, 'Queen A Di Dancefloor' is a very heavy UK stepper. Very promising debut!
