20 years after the release of 'Introducing... Ruben Gonzalez', back in 1997 still the solo debut of the then seventy-seven year old Cuban pianist described by Ry Cooder as: "The greatest piano soloist I have ever heard in my life. He's like a Cuban cross between Thelonious Monk and Felix the Cat.", World Circuit presents a deluxe reissue and that will be released both on CD and vinyl. The track list for this new edition was slightly altered, meaning you'll now find extended versions of 'Cumbanchero', 'Tres Lindas Cubanas' and 'Tumbao', and the album now ends with 'Descarga Ruben Y Cachaíto', a previously unreleased duet with bassist Orlando 'Cachaíto' Lopez. This reissue should more or less coincide with the release of 'Buena Vista Social Club: Adios', a new documentary heralding a final farewell to the legendary Cuban band. More than deserved re-issue by a Cuban Grand Master!
