For 'Kundalini Awaken', Polish singer-songwriter and front woman of the formation Zebra Dub, Shamanika (born Natalia Norko), joined forces with the Polish based Italian producer Pablo Raster. Shamanika (derived from the Italian "la musica sciamanica") combines her musical activities with teaching courses in kundalini yoga (a form of yoga, also called the yoga of consciousness, which is practiced as a way to arouse the latent power of the nervous system or kundalini by concentrating on energy centers or chakras using dynamic body exercises combined with different breathing techniques) and the songs on 'Kundalini Awaken' are therefore largely based on mantras and shabads (in Sikhism the term shabad refers to a hymn, paragraph or parts of the chapters or ragas in the 'Guru Granth Sahib', the most important holy scripture of the Sikhs) from Sikh tradition. The result is a cross between ambient dub (opener 'Wah Yanti (Dancing Edit)', 'Om Namah Shivaya'), Indian rhythms, EDM ('Wah Yanti (Shamanic Edit)', 'Chattra Chakkra Varti',) and UK steppers ('Rhake', 'Ramadasa'), with Shamanika alternating between Punjabi, Polish and English. Distinctly spiritual trip!
