After the release of his debut EP 'Lively Road', Smiley continued walking down the street, ending up at the nearest traffic light. Apart from the outro of 'Traffic Light', explaining the whole philosophy behind the three colors of the traffic light, Smiley also dedicates songs to both the green and the red light. In 'Keep The Joy', a collaboration with Anthony B, Smiley returns to the Strength riddim, a riddim Anthony B also used for 'Do Not Cry' ('My Hope', Minor7flat5, 2005). All songs on 'Traffic Light' are up to standard (especially the infectious 'Premeditated Murder' and 'Sound Di Alarm'), but for some reason 'Is This Real', a duet with the charismatic Dutch soul icon Shirma Rouse, really stands out. On 'Gratitude' Smiley respectfully thanks his fans. A new roots talent from The Netherlands has seen the light, literally!
