Even though the name Spraggy will probably not ring a bell with most people, the singer from Dominica has already released a number of albums. A pity about that stage name which will immediately link him to Shaggy and unfortunately Spraggy's music has little to do with Shaggy's; on the contrary 'Sunshine Country' is a roots album that, apart from a few tracks (the Stephen McGregor composed title track 'Sunshine Country' and the dancehall-inspired 'Living In The City') seems to have come right out of the golden era of the nineteen seventies. 'Sunshine Countrey' counts only nine tracks over a series of old (King Tubby, Aggrovators) and new riddims (Fire & Rain, Mission), not a lot to contemporary CD standards, but it still feels like a full album. One of the roots albums of 2009!
