'Challenges', the new album by Tarrus Riley is actually a re-issue of his debut effort, an album which previously appeared on the small Ya Man label in 2004. With successor/predecessor (?) 'Parables' Riley's career gained momentum and with the help and support of saxophone legend and producer Dean Fraser, Tarrus has grown into one of the most promising new talents in Jamaica. In that light, a re-release of 'Challenges' did not seem misplaced and as a nice perk, Tarrus added two bonus tracks ('Save The Children' and 'Love Created I', a nice version on Bob Marley's Jah Live riddim) to the original track list. Overall 'Challenges' sounds tighter then 'Parables' and that's absolutely to yours truly's taste!
