Only a few weeks ago we presented you 'Troddin' With A Vision', German-Indonesian singer-songwriter/singjay Tóke's studio debut (even though that was of course a reissue), and now he already surprises us with a full album. For 'Wake Up Inna Kingston' Tóke joined forces with the Italian Bassplate Records label and the album was recorded in Adriano Ippolito's Studio61 in Bologna. 'Wake Up Inna Kingston' sounds a lot more reggae than 'Troddin' With AVision' which had more of a singer-songwriter vibe. For this long player, the young singjay compiled a great guest list, as in addition to Ras Muhammad, whom you may consider Tóke's mentor, Tóke also convinced a number of young artists from the Jamaican roots revival scene like Conkarah, Infinite and Exile Di Brave to lend a hand, making 'Respect' and 'Conscious Vibe' stand out from the rest of the songs in the track list. For closing and bonus track 'My Name', Tóke suddenly goes digital, stylistically somewhat setting the song apart from the other tracks on 'Wake Up Inna Kingston'. The comic book style artwork for the album - comprised of eight illustrations in all, with which he tried to capture the spirit of the album and Tóke's songs - are the work of Simonluca Spadanuda.
